BIOGRAPHY OF BILL HAMMONS (PAGE 3)
CANDIDATE FOR US CONGRESS IN COLORADO'S 2ND DISTRICT
It was while looking for literary agents for that first novel that I realized there was a need on the Net for a list of literary agents
and the books they've represented. I had some mild success in creating an effective website for "Runners for Clark" (as in Presidential
candidate Wesley Clark), and realized that I could carve out a business niche on the Web. I had also come to realize that both
Newsweek and Manhattan were no longer for me (the former because of my growing interest in becoming active in politics); I saw a
business opportunity and an opportunity to change my life and took full advantage of it. Early in 2005, I gave notice at work, sold my
Manhattan apartment, moved to Boulder (which had first caught my attention as a mecca for long-distance running), bought a white Boxer
puppy I named "Jack," and threw myself full-time into WRHAMMONS.COM, a website I
had started as a hobby many years before.
My heart was set on Boulder when I saw Boulder Valley from the First Flatiron, and I haven't looked back for a minute. I qualified for the
Boston Marathon less than six months after moving to Colorado, and ran my first ultramarathon in October of 2006.
WRHAMMONS.COM continues to do quite well, thanks to the efforts of some smart hires,
and has helped prepare me for the next stage of my career and life, which is being your representative in Washington...
